As Logitech seems to have forgotten about Plug and Play for the PC master race, the gamepad I use didn’t work at all out of the box. To get it to work, you have to install a driver for it at the device manager. Select the Logitech f710, right click and select update driver. Select have “Browse my computer for drivers” -> “Let me pick…” -> “XBox 360 Peripherals” -> “XBox wireless receiver for Windows”. I’ll embed the Youtube video I used:
This solved the problem for me, but I still had connection problems when playing. Sometimes button presses or thumbstick movements were delayed or not received at all, other times a button release wasn’t received, resulting in a hanging button or in Forza Horizon my car kept turning hitting the barrier pretty hard. At least the solution was easy as the receiver was simply too far away. The PC tower is just under the desk about 1.5m away, but the USB port I used was in the back of the casing and from there through the thick desk plate and probably heavily disturbed by the two baby monitorsalso using 2.4GHz seems to have been too much.

As I am lazy I did not use the included USB cable extension to place the receiver on the desk. DUH. Plugged that in yesterday evening and had the smoothest Forza session ever. Felt like 60fps for the first time. I just didn’t think that small change could cause connection issues. Before the receiver was plugged into an USB slot behind the monitor.
